The Police of Colorado have confiscated enough fentanyl to kill 25 million people

According to a Colorado State Patrol official, the agency made the discovery while stopping a car heading toward Denver on Interstate 70 near Georgetown.

The 114 pounds of pure fentanyl powder were discovered beneath the passenger and driver seats, accessible via a trap door, and were packaged in 48 one-kilo bricks.

According to a spokesperson for the agency, this is the largest seizure of pure fentanyl powder made on a U.S. highway.

Captain Bill Barkley of the Colorado State Patrol’s Smuggling, Trafficking, and Interdiction Unit stated that the agency is not disclosing the identity of the driver due to potential retaliation from Mexican cartels, and he did not specify why the car was stopped.

“They’re only concerned with making money,” Barkley said.

Barkley stated that the drug investigation is being conducted in collaboration with the Drug Enforcement Administration.

He stated that the drugs are still pouring into the United States and Colorado, and that the cartels “engineer” the trap compartments.

“It’s a never-ending cat-and-mouse game between law enforcement and drug cartels. They do hire people to design trap compartments “Barkley explained. “Whether it’s on I-70 or I-25, or on secondary highways entering our state, I’d bet there’s something every hour of every day.”

According to DEA estimates, one kilogram of fentanyl can kill up to 500,000 people. According to those figures, the June 20 bust had the potential to kill over 25 million people.

Colorado authorities seized over 2 million fentanyl dosages from January to May, exceeding the amount seized last year.
