Prosecutors claim that Ike Ekweremadu and Beatrice Nwanneka Ekweremadu transported the 21-year-old from Nigeria and planned to have his kidney removed so that it could be given to their daughter.

Following tests at the Royal Free Hospital in Hampstead, the man is said to have refused to consent to the procedure.

Before fleeing to Staines police station in Surrey, the Ekweremadus allegedly treated him as a slave.

The couple, who were detained at Heathrow Airport on June 21 after arriving on a flight from Turkey, appeared in court today, July 7, at Westminster Magistrates’ Court.

Ike Ekweremadu, a 60-year-old district senator and lawyer, is accused of conspiring to arrange or facilitate another person’s travel for the purpose of exploitation.

His wife, 55, is accused of arranging or facilitating another person’s travel for the purpose of exploitation.

The accused were not asked to enter pleas, but the court heard that they had indicated they were not guilty.

It was reported that they will deny the alleged facts and that there was a criminal conspiracy, and that no exploitation took place.

They were remanded in custody and will appear at the Old Bailey on August 4 for a plea and trial preparation hearing.
