Ivana Trump, Donald Trump’s first wife and a businesswoman and television personality, died at the age of 73. Police responded to a cardiac arrest call at her New York City apartment, where she was pronounced dead on Thursday, according to ABC News.
Ivana Trump was married to Donald Trump from 1977 to 1992 and is the mother of Donald Jr., Ivanka, and Eric Trump. His high-profile affair with Marla Maples, which became tabloid fodder in the late 1980s, strained their marriage.
Professionally, she was a model, worked for the Trump Organization, launched several businesses, including jewelry and clothing lines, and was a regular on QVC and Home Shopping Network.
“I am very saddened to inform all of those who loved her, of which there are many, that Ivana Trump has passed away at her home in New York City,” Donald Trump said in a statement on Truth Social.
Ivana Trump made an appearance in the 1996 film ‘The First Wives Club’.
She was a wonderful, beautiful, and incredible woman who lived a wonderful and inspiring life. Her three children, Donald Jr., Ivanka, and Eric, were her pride and joy. She was ecstatic for them, as we were for her. Ivana, rest in peace!”
“It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Ivana Trump,” the family said in a statement to the press. Our mother was a remarkable woman: a business force, a world-class athlete, a radiant beauty, and a loving mother and friend.
Ivana Trump had survived. She fled communism and came to love this country. She instilled in her children grit and toughness, compassion and determination. Her mother, three children, and ten grandchildren will miss her terribly.”
Aside from her various business ventures, she has also written several books, hosted a reality show called “Ivana Young Man” in 2006, and appeared on the U.K. version of “Celebrity Big Brother” in 2010.
